Day 44 2/8/19 Royston, (near Canterbury), to Cleve Hill,
near Prescott Hillclimb.
Had a bit of spare time today so we decided to visit the Duxford
annexe of the Imperial War Museum which was only a short distance from where we
were staying.
What we didn’t realise was how amazing the site was and we
only had about 1.5 hours before we were on our way, we had about a 4 hour trip
to our accommodation at Cleve Hill, near Prescott Hillclimb.
We managed to visit hanger one at Duxford, there are 4 or 5,
walk through the Concord and a couple of other planes before we had to get on
out way. Will have to visit again.
Of we go, GPS lead us into the South until we eventually
reached Cleve Hill. Fortunately Norman and Claire had got there first or we
would have probably driven right past. Generally speaking we had a pretty good
run although we did get caught in traffic a few times. The TA14 performed
superbly and even sat in traffic did not heat up very much. Fortunately by now
I have had plenty of practice at round-about’s and the traffic seems to just
merge around you as visibility out of the Alvis to the rear is very limited,
typical of most 40’s cars.
Off to Prescott tomorrow.
