Day 45 3/8/19 Prescott Hill climb.

Day 45 3/8/19 Prescott Hill climb.

Off to the hill climb today, had to get there early to secure our parking spot in the Alvis carpark. Up at 6:45, left BnB by 7:30, slight navigation faux pas but still arrived at the venue by about 7:50., plenty of time to be directed into the Alvis “line-up” area. Noticed on the way there that the right hand wing mirror was missing, some mongrel had pinched it in the middle of the night (more later).

Outside the BnB, hood's down

Where has he gone?

No, we aren't in the bushes, it only seems like it

Ah, there h is

Anyway, didn’t get chased away by the “proper” pre-war Alvii so enjoyed our position in the display area. Re-kindled old friendships and met lots of very friendly Alvis Register people. An excellent day. Also cam across a few Australians enjoying the atmosphere at the hill climb. Lots of very interesting cars that we will never see in Oz.

Among the first to arrive

Very early Morgan and very brave owner, it will do 50MPH

Interesting paint job

Nearly got a ride in this for the cavalcade but was to late (Officials moved the Parade lap, Dam it)

Some very unusual conveyances

Vauxhall's as far as the eye can see.

Mike and Maritta admire a Speed 20

Edwardian's, what a blast

Cirrus engine Edwardian

Leather belt versus chain

WOW

From the cockpit

Maritta found a new friend but we couldn't fit him in the suitcase, couldn't afford him either.

Catching up with friends

Practice began to get serious in the afternoon when the fast cars started to push the limits, tomorrow will be very interesting.

Missed out but the display lap would probably not have been quite so exciting

OOPS

Massey Ferguson to the rescue

Left the track about 5PM and made our way home, one of the roads was a 25% climb but the TA14 did it without any qualms, although I did have to select first about 2/3 of the way up, not to bad, Norman needed first twice.

Back at the BnB and noticed a spring and plastic sleeve on the ground, the remains of the wing mirror attachment. After  a search of the surrounds, found the rest of the wing mirror in the rubbish bin, at least we have all the bits, Norman is going to take it home with him and see if he can fix it. Altogether a great day, tomorrow should be even better as they are expecting abour 160 Pre-war Alvis’s and an incredible array of other cars.
