Day 29 18/7/19 Renoldston (Gower Peninsula, South Wales) to St Davids, Pembrokeshire (West Wales)

Day 29 18/7/19 Renoldston (Gower Peninsula, South Wales) to St Davids, Pembrokeshire (West Wales).

Took a bit of a scenic route today through South and West Wales, we have plenty of time and there is no point driving along the Motorway, we would rather drive along the small country lanes, although some of them are a bit to small sometimes.

Spectacular scenery

And an occasional excavator

Glad we are behind the truck, not approaching

Tenby I think

What can I say, we aren't doing 100MPH but it feels like it sometimes

Anyway, travelled along the coast via Tenby, Burry Point and Kidwelly to Camarthen and then Pendine to visit the famous sands where a number of Land Speed Record attempts where made. We had planned on visiting the Museum of Speed but unfortunately it had been demolished to make way for a new display centre, not yet built, BABS is apparently at Beaulieu (I later learned), whether it will go back to Pendine probably depends on Brexit.

Approaching Pendine sands

The beach at Pendine where a number of Land Speed record attempts where made
From there we went through Kilgetty (Iron Works ruins, Carew (Castle), Canaston Bridge, and Roch to St Davids. GPS got us to within about 100 metres of our accommodation, in a caravan park (they are everywhere but you would have to be very choosy about which road you use with your caravan), Anyway, we milled around for a bit and then found our lodging around the corner. To be fair I shouldn't keep complaining about the GPS, because without it we could be anywhere. Honestly, I don't know how you would find your way anywhere without weeks of planning. Perhaps that's why people don't travel very far here, they only use the roads they know and never venture into the bigger picture, whereas we are used to having to travel hundreds of miles to get anywhere, we travelled about 100 Miles today (160Km), we normally travel 1/2 that just to get to work and back.

Remains of Iron Works near Kilgetty

Its a very popular holiday area, camping grounds are everywhere

Hope we don't meet anyone

OOPS, managed to get by with about an inch to spare (and these roads have a 40MPH speed limit?)

Mill at Carew, didn't have time to visit

Carew Castle

Approaching St Davids

Maritta enjoys the afternoon sun and view

View out to sea

Look closely at the myriad of vapour trails criss-crossing

Cat is very friendly
