Day 38 27/7/19 North Wales near Abergale.

t
Day 38 27/7/19 North Wales.

Norman and Claire offered to take us to see the sites in the TA14 today and we gladly accepted.

Two "Road Trains" operate around Llandudno

The weather was not really conducive to site seeing however we did manage to ride on the Great Orme Tramway at Llandudno (The Great Orme is a limestone headland approximately 3km long, 2Km wide and 207m high at the summit.). The tramway is Britain’s only funicular  (cable drawn), and travels 1 mile (1500M) up to the summit of the Great Orme and gives you a chance to experience travel as it was 100 years ago. The tramline is in two sections and you have to change trams at the half way station (not actually half way). This Is because of the differences in steepness, two odifferent cable systems are used to haul the trams. Both systems use the weight of the descending tram to help raise the ascending tram.

At the summit the weather was starting to deteriorate so after lunch and a cup of tea we took the tram back to the bottom.

You can also take a Cable Car to the top.

View from the summit, the weather is closing in.

Someone has spent a long time spreading stones, look closely

Hope they know each other (there are 6 cars parked)

We then went for a drive along the Great Orme Toll Road, this is a spectacular drive around the edge of the Great Orme, or would have been if we could see anything. You can take a side road to the summit but as we knew the weather had turned we just followed the ring road.

Then back to our “Castle” to get ready for this evenings AOC dinner.

That line halfway up the cliff is The Great Orme Road, its one way

A bit further up

Almost at the other end
